Other society pressure that drives our conditioning is the pressure to be good consumers. We are taught subliminally, overtly and by the example of the media and others, that owning ‘stuff’ will make you happy.
And probably the most insidious source of conditioning is the feeling that we need to conform and follow the herd. The belief that we need to ‘keep our heads down’ by seeking the security of the pack. By doing this we don’t have to make decisions, take a risk or accept responsibility.
But it’s hurting us.
So, is it any wonder that when some people (like you) decide that there must be more to life than treading on the wage slavery treadmill, that many of them fail at the first hurdle!
