At Business Opportunity NZ, we believe the traditional MLM (Multi Level Marketing) way of doing is business is flawed.

Yes, there are are certainly aspects of the MLM model that have proven to be exciting and reliable.  Not all companies are set up to fail!

Sure, people with serious experience, large influence and the entrepreneur’s mindset can make lots of money. But while there are many cases and examples of people making large incomes from MLM, we still don’t think it works for the average person.

Since a number of us here at Business Opportunity NZ have been through the MLM mill, we think we are qualified to share our opinion.

We know that our viewpoint is controversial and we know that some MLM companies act with integrity and have great products. But when we really examine the characteristics and facts, it doesn’t stack up for the ordinary Kiwi.

Without ‘value’ there is no business.  For a business to work, consumers must be prepared to pay money for product or services that they really want and need.

Instead in many cases with MLM business opportunities, the product is merely a by-product of the real intention of the ‘plan’ which is to recruit other business people.  In such a case, when new people who join don’t make money (most wont), they simply leave and stop buying products because the inherent value of the product doesn’t stack up or make sense.

That’s no way to build a business.

Take away the ‘business opportunity’ part of the proposition and ask yourself “if these products were available on the open market up against similar competitors, how would they fare?”

In many cases they wouldn’t because the high pricing would deplete the value proposition.  They need high prices to ensure high payouts for the ‘big fish’ players at the top of the heap.

One sure sign of this flawed principle is the way some MLM companies are unable to grow in a particular country or territory.  They will hit a glass ceiling of growth and will be unable to grow further.  Most die or shrink.

Often their only way of demonstrating growth is to do it in an inauthentic manner by opening up new territories and countries.

The reality is that without real value, these new countries over time fall victim of this major flaw.

Scarcity, Fear & Greed

Many MLM companies employ tactics based on scarcity (ground floor business opportunity), fear (you will miss out because this might not last long) and greed (make money before someone else).

When you combine these tactics that are designed to influence those who don’t know better, the results can be heartbreaking for the average wage and salary earner.

No wonder in NZ a common attitude to  the home based business opportunity industry can be negative.
